Terms of Service
Effective October 27, 2026 · Version 1
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of CoreRift Tutor, a website and app that helps a child practice school material by voice (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Core Rift LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("CoreRift," "we," "us"). By signing in you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who May Use the Service
The Service is for parents and legal guardians. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. A child uses the Service only on your account, under your supervision, and never has an account of their own. You are responsible for everything done through your account, including what your child says or types into it.
2. Invitation-Only Access
The Service is offered by invitation. Access may be limited in time, may change, and may be withdrawn at any time. Features may be added, changed or removed.
3. What the Service Does
You upload study material such as photos or PDFs of school pages. An artificial intelligence service (Google Gemini) reads the material, builds a study profile and practice questions, listens to or reads your child's answers, scores them and gives feedback. Explorer mode writes additional questions and facts that go beyond the material you uploaded.
4. AI Output May Be Wrong
AI-generated questions, scores, feedback, explanations and facts can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your child. Scores are a practice aid, not an assessment, grade or diagnosis. The Service does not replace a teacher, tutor or your own judgment. Please check anything important against the original material or a reliable source.
5. Your Gemini API Key
The Service uses your own Google Gemini API key. You are responsible for the key, for any charges Google makes for its use, and for Google's terms that apply to it. We recommend a key from a Google Cloud project with billing turned on, because Google states that content sent through paid API keys is not used to train its models. We store your key encrypted and never show it again in full. You may remove it at any time.
6. Your Content
You keep ownership of the material you upload and of your child's answers ("Your Content"). You give us permission to store, process and send Your Content to the service providers described in the Privacy Policy, only as needed to run the Service for you. You promise that you have the right to upload what you upload, that it is school or study material you may use for this purpose, and that it does not contain information you are not allowed to share. Please do not upload sensitive documents such as medical records, government identification or financial information.
7. Acceptable Use
Do not use the Service to break the law, to harm or harass anyone, to upload malicious files, to try to get around limits or security, to probe or disrupt the Service, or to make automated requests. Do not share your sign-in or invitation code with others.
8. Your Child's Safety
Supervise your child's use of the Service, including voice features. Use the device's microphone only as you intend. If you see tutor output that is inappropriate or wrong, stop the session and tell us through the feedback button or the contact address below.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on others, including Google (sign-in and Gemini), Vercel (hosting), Neon (database) and CoreRift Gate (invitation codes, policies and feedback). Their availability and terms are outside our control. Your phone or browser may also provide its own speech recognition and read-aloud voices, which are governed by that vendor's terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your projects at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms, if we believe the Service is being misused, or if we stop offering it. When your access ends we will delete Your Content as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that it will improve any grade or test result.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, CoreRift and its owners and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Virginia have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where the law requires otherwise.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will post the new version here and ask you to accept it again the next time you sign in. If you keep using the Service after accepting, the new Terms apply to you.
